He barely manages to escape before the ship is torn into pieces by the explosion. That was not quite how Carver had imagined the journey, when young journalist Valerie Constantine had engaged him for the trip. The captain was supposed to take her to a meeting with an informant on a remote island, but everything went terribly wrong.
