Frankie, a 40-something woman with a sharp tongue and an allergy to adulthood, finds herself at
a crossroads. Formerly a bartender and party girl, she takes a job as a fitness instructor at a gym
that thrives on filtered mirrors, social media selfies, and Botox smoothies. She immediately
bonds with George, a flamboyant, lovelorn receptionist, while trying to survive the ego-driven
world of gym culture.
Frankie’s personal life is an equal mess. She swings between bad online dating experiences,
disastrous speed-dating events, and one-night stands with men who barely remember her name
(or vice versa). Her mother, Linda, is on a mission to set her up with a respectable man, while
Frankie’s best friend, Tess, drags her into bizarre self-improvement schemes, including a sex toy
book club and a questionable therapy session with a weed-smoking psychologist.
Between exes resurfacing, gym members obsessed with their own reflections, and a boss who
considers filtered mirrors a form of therapy, Frankie starts to unravel. A rekindled relationship
with toxic ex-boyfriend Dre threatens to pull her back into old self-destructive patterns.
However, after a brutally honest therapy session and an unexpected moment of clarity, Frankie
starts to realize that her endless cycle of self-sabotage is the real problem.
In a moment of rebellion, she unplugs the gym’s “selfie station,
” causing a mass existential crisis
among the members. After a reality check from her boss, she begins to see things differently.
Maybe fitness isn’t just about the body—maybe it’s about self-acceptance. Maybe love isn’t just
about sex—maybe it’s about self-respect.
With a newfound perspective (and a little less self-loathing), Frankie takes her first real steps
toward emotional maturity, proving that it’s never too late to grow the hell up… at least a little.
