Brocchini & Buehler: The Investigation of Scott Peterson

On December 24th, 2002, Laci Peterson vanished from her home in Modesto, CA. Her husband, Scott Peterson, described his wife as "MISSING" when he first contacted Laci's mother Sharon. Laci, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant during the time of her disappearance, was said to have been walking her dog McKenzie down at nearby East La Loma Park that evening. The case became a national sensation very fast and put Scott Peterson under the spotlight due to his very suspicious movements and demeanor. Scott went fishing that morning at the Berkeley Marina, some 90 miles away, in a newly purchased boat that no one knew about. Within that first week, Scott Peterson's girlfriend on the side, Amber Frey, heard of the news and immediately called authorities. Unaware that Scott was married, Amber quickly worked with the Modesto Police Department to assist in gathering whatever information that she could with recorded phone calls. Almost four months later, the remains of Conner and Laci were discovered washed up on shore in Richmond, CA, one day apart . This became a huge red flag in that this was the precise area that Scott Peterson said he went fishing at on the morning of Laci's disappearance. Detective Al Brocchini and Detective Jon Buehler tell us their first hand account about their involvement in the investigation.
