When she finally chooses freedom, she must rebuild her life while facing judgment from her close knit community, financial hardship, and a daughter who doesn't know whom to believe. Taking a job as a grocery clerk, Preeti rediscovers her creativity by launching a dress design business, and forms an unexpected friendship with a kind Black bar owner that challenges long held cultural boundaries.
