Nutcracker Nightmare

One year after the mysterious death of fellow actor Owen Marshall-Clarke, theatre performer Bailey Cunningham is trying to rebuild her life. Haunted by guilt and plagued by compulsive rituals, she returns to the crumbling Hawthorne Theatre to rehearse a community production of The Nutcracker, the same show Owen was preparing before his death.

The company is already under pressure. Their beloved theatre is on the verge of closure, and their final rehearsals are disrupted by the arrival of the obnoxious “Red Silverbacks,” a misogynistic podcast crew who delight in tormenting Bailey and reopening old wounds surrounding Owen’s death.

But during a late-night dress rehearsal, the cast, crew and podcast team find themselves trapped inside the theatre as a masked figure dressed as a Nutcracker begins carrying out a series of brutal, theatrical murders. An unsettling presence takes hold of the building as the killer silently stalks its victims through dark corridors, backstage passageways and beneath the stage itself.

Each new death pushes the survivors deeper into paranoia, and Bailey finds herself once again at the centre of a tragedy she cannot escape. As accusations resurface and long-buried truths threaten to emerge, the survivors begin to suspect that the carnage is somehow connected to the tragedy that shattered their lives a year earlier.

As the body count rises and the theatre becomes a slaughterhouse, Bailey must confront the masked killer, knowing that the only exit is the final bow.
