Spain, 1974. Ana, a 19-year-old from an upper-class family, is deemed rebellious by her parents and sent away after sneaking out one night. Her destination is the Women’s Protection Board, a Francoist institution for girls considered morally deviant. Confined in a reformatory run by nuns, Ana is subjected to a harsh regime of control, punishment and repression. As she struggles to survive the institution’s cruelty, she finds solace in the friendship of the other girls, above all in Sole, a spirited village girl whose warmth and vitality forge an instant connection between them. In a place designed to break them, that radiant bond becomes Ana’s lifeline.
