Clara, a brilliant high school senior, is counting the days until she can leave her abusive foster home behind for Yale. But her plans are interrupted when a mysterious new teacher with a sinister past becomes disturbingly fixated on her. Mr. Heller offers Clara special mentorship that promises to secure her future, but as his interest transforms into fixation, she uncovers disturbing connections between her new teacher and a string of unsolved deaths. Trapped in a psychological battle with a predator who systematically eliminates anyone standing in his way, Clara must use her understanding of his twisted psychology to out maneuver him before she becomes his next “perfect student.”
