Überblick

The Days Ahead is a present day nuclear attack drama anthology presenting three distinct stories showing how characters with varying degrees of preparedness cope with an attack on the United Kingdom. The three films are arranged sequentially and are all set in locations that are some distance from the nearest blasts. 'Stranded' When their building is rocked by the blast wave of a nuclear attack, office worker Phil convinces his three colleagues to shelter in place with him in the safest room in the building, rather than running for home. The group regret their decision to stay when later the chaos from outside reaches them anyway, leaving Phil with the terrible guilt of his advice. 'Prepared' An optimistic dad with a 'prepping' hobby protects his wife and daughter during an attack on the UK by sheltering in a survival equipment filled utility room. When forced to venture out for supplies, the dad attracts unwanted attention from local looters. When intruders arrive at the family home, wife and mum Liz, who had previously been indifferent to the escalating war steps up and switches from the protected, to the protector. 'Post' After losing his family in a tragic accident, Paul sells the family home and buys a small cold war nuclear bunker. Following a year of renovations and escalating war, the UK is attacked with nuclear weapons. Only when alone underground, with radioactive fallout above, is Paul forced to process his loss. When he becomes friends with a fellow survivor via CB radio communication, he finds a new reason to go on. The Days Ahead offers fictional portrayals of a present day nuclear attack, with protective advice loosely based on the 1980 UK government issued guide 'Protect and Survive'. The anthology highlights the issue that there is currently no provision in place for the protection of British citizens.
