Led by Captain Elena Reyes, a trailblazing Latina firefighter with a complicated home life, the recruits—each with their own unique pasts, conflicts, and motivations—must learn to navigate the physical and emotional trials of the academy while confronting personal demons and the crushing weight of expectation. In the Pilot, as political pressures from City Hall threaten to compromise safety standards, the cadre and recruits are forced to wrestle with the harrowing realities of the job and their own moral choices. Where even in training, every decision could mean the difference between life and death.
