Where Did You Bury Him?

By the time Jesus arrives, Lazarus has been dead four days. The situation is beyond human hope. Martha meets Him with a mixture of grief and faith, saying, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” Jesus responds with one of the greatest declarations in Scripture: “I am the resurrection and the life.” He shifts her focus from what could have been to who He is.

At the tomb, Jesus weeps — showing that divine power does not cancel divine compassion. Then He commands the stone to be rolled away. With a loud voice He calls, “Lazarus, come forth!” Death releases its grip, and Lazarus emerges, still bound in grave clothes. Jesus instructs, “Loose him, and let him go,” symbolizing that resurrection is followed by liberation.

The story teaches that no situation is too dead for Jesus to revive. His timing may challenge us, but His purpose is always greater than our pain. When He speaks, life returns, hope rises, and what was buried walks again.
