Jake is a twelve-year-old dreamer with an imagination far bigger than his everyday life. He dreams of adventures in space, drawing the greatest comics ever, impressing Jenny, the girl next door, and, most of all, becoming the kind of hero he loves to draw.
Reality, however, has other plans. Between the chaos of family life, looking after his younger brother Adam, navigating school, and dealing with Rick, a classmate who seems to have a special talent for getting under his skin, Jake often feels more like a background character than the hero of his own story.
Luckily, Jake has somewhere extraordinary to go: his imagination. Every night, his dreams open the door to Wonderland, a spectacular realm where anything can happen and where many of the ideas for his comics come alive.
Then Jake meets Vagapulga, a mysterious crow-like creature who promises him something irresistible: a chance to finally become the hero he has always imagined himself to be. But magical shortcuts rarely go according to plan. Soon, the boundary between Jake’s dreams and everyday life begins to blur, bringing pieces of Wonderland into the real world in increasingly surprising ways.
The biggest surprise of all is UKO, an irresistibly chaotic half-dog, half-unicorn creature who somehow escapes Wonderland and becomes Jake’s unlikely sidekick. Together, they stumble into an adventure far bigger than anything Jake could have drawn.
To put things right, Jake will need more than superpowers. He’ll need Jenny, Adam, and, much to everyone’s surprise, even Rick. This unlikely Dream Team sets off on a spectacular journey through a world where imagination can rewrite the rules, ordinary places can become extraordinary, and the next surprise is always just around the corner.
Wonderland is a funny, emotional, visually spectacular family adventure about friendship, imagination, and discovering what being a hero really means. Because courage isn’t about never being afraid. Sometimes it begins with trusting your friends, accepting yourself, and realizing that you don’t have to save the world alone.
