Coach Joe Ellis dreamed of winning the Virginia State High School Basketball Championship. His dream came true in 2005 when the Surry County Boys, High School, Basketball Team won the State Championship for the first time, but victory is short lived when Coach Ellis dies of colon cancer 8 weeks later.
