1970s Spain. Despite the fact that Francoist ideologies are still deeply rooted in society, one group of young, pioneering women and an ambitious promotor are about to change the story of women’s football. 16-year-old Nati has an innate talent for the beautiful game and a mother who whole-heartedly disapproves of her playing. But Nati is so enamoured with soccer that she’s prepared to play behind her mother’s back, put up with people laughing and hurling insults at her and run around a muddy field in mismatching jerseys with her teammates, all to secure their place in the sport. The women have no official support, no team anthem, no shield and no permission, but their passion for the game is bigger than any rulebook.
