For years, Adaora, a quiet and bright young woman, has lived under the shadow of a secret too heavy for anyone her age to bear. When Adaora discovers she is pregnant, her world collapses. The shame, the fear, the horror of what the pregnancy represents becomes unbearable. Desperate to hide the truth from a society quick to judge and a family unwilling to protect her, she seeks out a way to end the pregnancy on her own.
With no support, no guidance, and no safe options, Adaora turns to a dangerous, unregulated abortion. The procedure goes terribly wrong. By the time help arrives, it is too late. Adaora loses her life — a tragic end to a life already marked by pain she never deserved.
