筋書き

Chioma has always dreamed of becoming a hair dresser. Quiet, creative, and determined, she finally gathers the courage to pursue her passion after years of suppressing it. But her older sister, Nneka, has very different plans for her. Nneka believes Chioma should choose a “respectable” career—a musician or actor, or anything that reflects well on the family. To her, becoming a hair dresser is a waste of talent and a path with no future.

What begins as a simple disagreement quickly grows into a full‑blown family conflict.

Nneka’s husband, Emeka, sees Chioma’s potential and supports her dream wholeheartedly. He believes she deserves the freedom to choose her own path, even if it doesn’t align with Nneka’s expectations. His encouragement infuriates Nneka, who feels undermined in her own home. She accuses him of taking sides against her and meddling in matters that don’t concern him.

As Chioma moves closer to making her decision, the tension between Nneka and Emeka intensifies. Arguments erupt over dinner, silent treatments stretch for days, and their once‑stable marriage begins to crack under the weight of a choice that isn’t even theirs to make.

Caught in the middle, Chioma feels guilty for causing friction between the couple she admires. But she also knows that sacrificing her dream to keep the peace will only lead to resentment and regret.

When a major opportunity arises—an apprenticeship with a renowned designer—Chioma must decide whether to follow her heart or bend to her sister’s pressure. And Nneka and Emeka must confront the deeper issues in their marriage: control, respect, and the fear of losing influence over the people they love.

In the end, Chioma’s choice becomes a catalyst that forces the entire family to confront their values, their insecurities, and the true meaning of supporting one another.
