Inspired by a true story, Malika traces the extraordinary rise of a young woman born in a shantytown on the outskirts of Paris who dares to break into the rigid, elitist world of opera. Set in late-1980s Paris, the film follows Malika, marked by a childhood accident and raised in a family where survival leaves little room for dreams. Driven by raw talent and fierce determination, she battles poverty, discrimination, and her own simmering rage when she is admitted—against all odds—to a prestigious music academy. There, she comes under the demanding mentorship of renowned vocal instructor Anne Dune, while an unconventional American opera star challenges her to unlock her voice in unexpected ways. Confronted with class prejudice, financial hardship, and deep emotional wounds, Malika struggles to find her place in a world that was never meant for her.

When a devastating loss threatens to silence her forever, she faces a defining choice: surrender to grief— or transform it into power. In a final audition charged with defiance and vulnerability, Malika unleashes a voice forged through pain, perseverance, and passion.
