K2 Pictures Inc.

Muneyuki Kii, the producer of numerous films at Toei, one of Japan's major film studios, launched a new film company, K2 Pictures, in August 2023, in order to establish a new ecosystem for Japanese film based on his rich and long career in all aspects of films including exhibition, distribustion, planning and filim production. As the core of K2 Pictures is a commitment to move away from Japan's traditional "production commitee" model and instead adopt a fund-based approach to filmmaking. The company aims to create films not for the shrinking domestic market but also with a global audience in mind, while ensuring better profit returns to creators. K2 Pictures launched the first film fund in 2024 and started production. Moving forward, the company is actively seeking investors and creators who share its ambition to rejuvenate and globalize Japanese films.
