The SC Group of Companies is made up of Showcase Entertainment, Showcase For Kids, and SC Global Media and is helmed by David Jackson and Shauna Shapiro Jackson, with Showcase Entertainment being a member of the Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA). The SC Group produces and distributes film and television series and maintains strong, ongoing relationships with the leading distributors worldwide.
Over the last twenty years, the SC Group has successfully marketed and licensed over three hundred feature films throughout the world in all media. Its product line has included such 'names' as Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire, John Malkovich, Edward Burns, Debra Messing, Harvey Keitel, Kiefer Sutherland, Rebecca DeMornay, Benicio Del Toro, Lorraine Bracco, Christopher Walken, Robert Downey, Jr., Colin Firth, Sean Penn, John Favreau, Jason Alexander, Billy Bob Thornton, Stanley Tucci, Matt LeBlanc, Kathy Bates, Rob Schneider, Jeff Daniels and many more.
In addition to film, the SC Group has had success with television series in the family space. Showcase Entertainment produced the hit tween show “Flight 29 Down” for NBC and Discovery Kids/The Hub, and sold the series to major broadcasters throughout the world. Showcase For Kids' live action children's show “The Wannabes” premiered on Starz Family in the US and was HBO Family Latin America’s number one show. They also produced several animated series, including “Ape Escape” based on the Sony Playstation Game for NickToons with Frederator Studios (“Fairly Odd Parents”) and “Guardians of the Power Masks.”
Worldwide clients of the SC Group over the years have included Columbia/Tristar, Disney/Buena Vista, MGM, New Line, Lionsgate, HBO, Showtime, Sony Pictures Television, Lifetime, Oxygen, the Sy Fy Channel, Village Roadshow, Endemol, Nordisk, 20th Century Fox, BBC, British Sky Broadcasting, TF1, Canal +, RTL, ZDF, Pro Sieben, Antena 3, Mediaset, Miko/NHK, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, HBO Ole and Cartoon Network, just to name a few.
David Jackson and Shauna Shapiro Jackson were previously the co-founders of the worldwide distribution company, Curb/Esquire Films (currently Curb Communications), where they also served as President and Executive Vice President, respectively. Further, they served as Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Production and Acquisitions, respectively, of Curb/Musifilm whose partners included Universal Pictures. Amongst other things, Curb/Musifilm developed and co-produced "sex, lies and videotape," which won the Cannes Film Festival for Best Picture (the Palme D’Or).
Jackson and Shapiro Jackson have been producing over the past 20 years. They initially produced several films for RCA/Columbia (ultimately Columbia/Tristar) with Morgan Mason ("sex, lies and videotape"), John Hardy (“Ocean’s Eleven,” “Erin Brockovich”) and Jason Clark (“Stuart Little”) to fill the demand for RCA/Colombia’s home video line. Most recently they Produced the feature film “You May Not Kiss The Bride,” starring Katharine McPhee, Rob Schneider, Kathy Bates, Mena Suvari, Dave Annable and Vinnie Jones, Executive Produced “Flight 29 Down” for NBC/Discovery Kids, were instrumental in helping the producers of “The Wannabes” get their hit TV show made and more.
Further, both Jackson and Shapiro Jackson started out as attorneys specializing in the area of Entertainment. Prior to establishing and building Curb/Esquire Films, Jackson served as an attorney at Capitol Records and was then recruited by MCA Records where he served as the Vice President of Business Affairs. Thereafter, Jackson went into the private practice of law where he represented recording artists, record and film producers and film distribution companies. Shapiro Jackson began her career as an in-house attorney for a production/distribution company where she dealt in all aspects of film production and distribution, and where she first established her strong relationships in the international film community.
Accordingly, our team is helmed by seasoned executives with excellent reputations and relationships and who are astute at negotiating deals on the producer’s behalf. Other executives with the SC Group in clude Cara Shapiro, a Canadian native with a distinctive eye for quality, yet commercial, films; Gayle Sherman Hooker who comes from the world of production and development having worked with such producers as Sherry Lansing and Academy Award winning director William Friedkin; Lori Doherty Bee comes from the production world (“Sex and the City,” “Entourage,” “Shameless”); Linda Paolucci, Sales Administration and Market Coordinator, has been with our team for almost 15 years and coordinates all matters relating to each film and television market; Industry veteran Paula Marshall heads the finance and worldwide collections department; and Music industry veterans Barbara Gingrich Spiegel and Katie Stephenson Dodson head Showcase’s newly formed Reality/Factual Entertainment division.
