Ada is a brilliant, ambitious woman whose career has soared far beyond her expectations. Her husband, Chidi, is loving, supportive, and hardworking — but his income doesn’t match hers. At first, it doesn’t matter. They build a peaceful home, share responsibilities, and celebrate each other’s wins.
But everything changes when Ada begins spending more time with a friend — who constantly reminds her that a woman who earns more should “set the rules,” “protect herself,” and “never let a man depend on her.” Her words slowly plant seeds of resentment.
What Ada once saw as partnership, she now sees as burden. What she once called love, she begins to call imbalance. What was once teamwork becomes silent competition.
Influenced by her friend, Ada starts withdrawing emotionally, questioning Chidi’s contributions, and making decisions without him. Arguments replace laughter. Distance replaces intimacy. Pride replaces gratitude.
