More than Lumpia

Agnes Lopez has built a successful career as a commercial and editorial photographer, but for much of her life she unknowingly kept her Filipino identity at a distance.  A difficult trip to the Philippines forced her to confront questions of belonging and sparked a personal journey to reclaim her heritage.  

That journey took shape in Jacksonville, where Agnes began organizing Filipino pop-up dinners that quickly grew into a movement.  As the events gained momentum, local chefs who had long worked behind the scenes stepped forward, sharing their food and their stories with pride.

Through their interviews, the chefs reflect on family, culture, and the significance of food in shaping identity--while also revealing how Agnes' efforts inspired them to reconnect with their roots.  What began as a series of dinners soon became a catalyst for the Filipino community of Jacksonville, a community that had always been present but often remained quiet.

More Than Lumpia weaves together these voices to revewal how food can awaken identity and ignite pride, culminating in Agnes' own reconnection to the Philippines.
