Moments after the Cessna carrying Kate, her best friend Britt and their skydive instructors explodes over the Arizona desert, instructor Jay saves Kate from a fatal impact - only for a violent gust to drag them over the Grand Canyon. Their parachute snags on a dead tree, leaving them suspended above a 1,000-foot drop. Jay cuts himself loose to save Kate, and she is left injured, isolated and almost impossible to find. Kate’s only lifeline is Jay’s satellite phone and Joe, Jay’s father, a former paratrooper calling from his house. With the authorities unable to locate her and time running out, Kate must confront a broken marriage, trust park ranger Grayce’s guidance and find the courage to launch herself deeper into the canyon in one final attempt to reach the Colorado River alive.
