In 1919, Russian spy Beatrice is in Fiume (Rijeka) to protect Italian poet and war hero Gabriele D’Annunzio during his revolutionary takeover. As political tensions rise, she crosses paths with Pietro, a conflicted intelligence chief, and Giulio, an anarchist deserter from WWI. Their intertwined fates reflect historical events and Italy's struggle between revolution and looming dictatorship
