THE QUEEN OF FASHION is a period tragicomedy based on the life of British artistic visionary and style icon ISABELLA BLOW (Andrea Riseborough), as she exuberantly attempts to restore her family’s name and fortune whilst battling mental illness.
Based in London during Cool Britannia, clothing addict Issie’s life is a mess. She’s broke, unemployed and her boyfriend is a shit. She catches a break when former boss Anna Wintour lands her a job as Stylist at Tatler magazine, where she makes lifelong friends — including childhood companion Lucy Birley (Emily Beecham) — and discovers her protégé, milliner Philip Treacy (Fionn O’Shea). Things improve, until Daddy (Richard E. Grant) dies, disinherits her — and she’s fired.
Snatching victory from defeat, she gets a job at Vogue with Alexandra Shulman (Michelle Dockery) — and uncovers designer Lee ‘Alexander’ McQueen (Joe Cole). Lee’s genius and ambition take her on a rollercoaster to the pinnacle of fashion before plunging her into a personal hell. Now in a pit of depression, it seems no matter how hard she climbs, the ghosts of her history will drag her into the dark.
