The life for Sarya (17), a Kurdish refugee living in a city next to Tokyo, seems looking up: the grades at the local high school keeping high and the bonding she has with Sota, a Japanese high school student, becoming something special. One day, however, everything goes upside down when Sarya and her family learn their application for the refugee status is turned down and they lose the permit to work or even to cross a prefectural border. Her father who has continued to work to make ends meet is finally imprisoned and she now has to take care of her younger siblings.
