The Last Crossing: DAWN

Sinopsis

A prehistoric pathogen preserved beneath Siberian permafrost is extracted, commercialized, and unknowingly carried into Cambodia by a wealthy tourist. Within days, a violent infection spreads from Siem Reap toward the heart of country.

In rural Kampong Chhnang, Sophea lives in poverty with her daughter Mealea, trapped inside a cruel household and determined to find enough money to send the girl to school. When the outbreak reaches their community, mother and daughter join a desperate migration toward Phnom Penh. Along the way, they encounter Lina, Ratha, Samnang and other survivors, while Sophea’s abusive husband Ti and selfish relatives repeatedly place everyone at risk.

As hospitals, roads and shelters collapse into terror, Sophea grows weaker but refuses to abandon Mealea. At the final military crossing, she sacrifices her last chance of rescue so her daughter can escape. Years later, Mealea honors her mother’s dream by building a life shaped not by fear, but by compassion.
