Sinopsis

This stunning documentary follows the BigFoot Riders, as they retrace the steps of their ancestors who were killed at Wounded Knee, South Dakota on December 29th, 1890. Starting at Standing Rock, North Dakota, where Sitting Bull was killed on Dec 15th, they ride the trail the survivors who fled, in the dead of winter, shadowed relentlessly by the 7th Cavalry. The story is narrated by a sensationalist newspaperman of the day, by the voice of Elaine Goodall, a sympathetic teacher who kept a diary of the events, by Mark White Bull, a descendant of Sitting Bull, and by Ricky Afraid of Hawk, a dscendant of Dewey Beard, who survived to tell the story of what happened that day.

Interviews with leaders of the Ride, Chief Arvol LookingHorse, holder of the Sacred White Buffalo Pipe of the Lakota nation, and Birgil Killstraight, and other elders as well as younger riders, fill out the story. Gorgeous cinematography and a variety of Lakota music, including Sitting Bull's songs and Ghost Dance songs, performed by Earl Bullhead, make the film a delight.
