Since its launch in 2018, Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios has enjoyed explosive growth and is already well established as one of the most prolific and diversified independent content companies in the industry.
With 47 major film and TV productions under AGC’s belt already, 2024 was the indie financier’s busiest year yet. In October, Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut, Woman of the Hour, premiered on Netflix and launched into the #1 film spot in the US. At TIFF, Ron Howard’s psychological thriller, Eden, starring Ana De Armas, Jude Law, Sydney Sweeney, Vanessa Kirby and Daniel Brühl, premiered alongside Justin Kurzel’s The Order, starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan and Jurnee Smollett, which was released theatrically in the US on December 6. In July, Peacock launched the studio’s $155m 10-hour first season of ancient Rome gladiatorial epic, Those About to Die from director Roland Emmerich. Other 2024 releases include: Brad Anderson’s crime thriller The Silent Hour (Paramount) starring Joel Kinnaman and Mark Strong; Richard Linklater’s Hit Man starring Glen Powell and Adria Arjona; Late Night with the Devil starring David Dastmalchian; Poolman from director Chris Pine; and season 2 of Amazon crime drama Troppo starring Thomas Jane. AGC is currently in post-production on Bobby Farrelly’s Driver’s Ed with Kumail Nanjiani from Jonas and Jennifer Pate; FING! starring Taika Waititi, based on the best-selling children’s book from David Walliams; and Rowan Athale’s thrilling sports drama Giant, based on the compelling true-life story of British-Yemeni pugilist Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed, starring Pierce Brosnan and Amir El-Masry. Upcoming in 2025, AGC is in pre-production on two recently announced projects including writer/director Noah Hawley’s Nowhere Fast starring Chris Pine, and Will Eubank’s The Last Druid starring Russell Crowe.
