Synopsis

Bombay-based Subir Kumar (Amitabh Bachchan) is a famous pop singer, thronged by female fans, some even proposing marriage to him. But Subir is not certain that marriage is for him, that is, until he meets a simple, young woman named Uma (Jaya Bachchan) and falls in love with her. Post their marriage and return to Bombay, he announces that Uma and he will sing songs together. Uma rapidly climbs the ladder of success, surpassing Subir's popularity. Subir is unable to accept that his wife is more sought after by the showbiz industry and the people than he is, which leads to ugly conflicts between the husband and wife. Will the couple split or will love conquer an inflated ego?
