Synopsis

In the year 20XX, humanity as we know it has come to an end. A tsunami of meteors bombarded the entire planet, destroying all the continents and wiping out almost all living creatures. The only land that survived the hell storm of meteorites was the Kanto Plain on the main island of Japan – the land that was formally known as Tokyo now has become a country that hosts all the survivors on Earth. The country is called Neo-Nippon.

After 30 years of bloody civil war, a man named Nobuhide Fujinaga united the land and he became the first Shogun of Neo-Nippon. For the common survivors this was the beginning of living under an oppressive totalitarian society. But they actually had much bigger trouble than a fascist ruler:

“ANOROC”, the Shogunate government called it. “The Government Designated Infectious Disease”.

The meteorites that destroyed the Earth contain a mysterious ray inside the rocks. If a human being is exposed to this ray, the cells in their body destroy themselves, causing certain death. But in very rare cases, some humans survive the exposure to the meteorites’ ray. Those who get exposed to the space ray and survive, metamorphosis into horrific meteorite beasts. People call them “ANOROC”. ANOROC hunt and kill human beings for their “lifeforce”. ANOROC possess many special abilities. They are invincible as long as their brains are not destroyed. They can regenerate any of their body parts and heal wounds no matter how badly injured they are. Some of them even have psychic power and can shoot projectile energy beams that kill. The name ANOROC comes from the Siberian cosmologist Dr. Suriv Anoroc who first warned humanity about the meteorite tsunami that destroyed Earth.

A new discovery is made that further complicates the situation. When a pregnant woman is exposed to the meteorite ray, the mother might be killed but the unborn baby in the womb survives. That child will possess the power of ANOROC but his or her mind and soul stay human. These children born of the ray don’t have to consume human lifeforce. They are mutants that are called MAN-ANOROC.

The people of Neo-Nippon are living under many fears. They fear ANOROC. They fear getting expose to the meteorite ray, which will either kill them or turn them into ANOROC. And they also fear “Fujinaga Shogunate Official Meteorite Monster Slayer” Kaisei Kishi. Kishi is on a mission to capture and execute ANOROC and MAN-ANOROC. This true sadist of a Samurai is on a rampage with his four master Samurai assassins.

Humanity has one last hope. Her name is “LION-GIRL”. A superhero Yakuza fighter. The last defender of humanity against ANOROC. LION-GIRL wears a metal mask that resembles a lion and a metal bikini battle suit. “Stand with the weak and fight the strong”, LION-GIRL is a true pursuer of “Ninkyo”, Japanese chivalry and the true, ancient way of Yakuza.

No good deed goes unpunished. The Shogunate government feels threatened by the rise of this commoner’s hero, LION-GIRL, and they have named her a public enemy. The evil Samurai lord Kishi will do anything to capture her, as well as a vengeful ANOROC named Devil Gemini who possesses black magic. How long can LION-GIRL fight off all ANOROC and protect innocent people alone? And who is Mayumi, the teenage MAN-ANOROC who might hold the secret to it all? With LION-GIRL’s uncle, master teacher Ken Shishikura’s, help and an android who would give his life for her, LION-GIRL will risk everything to save what little of the world is left.

“Go Nagai’s LION-GIRL” is a new superhero for a new era.
