This film tells the story of the crew of the first submarine in history to sink an enemy ship. This was 1863, in the American Civil War. The story follows each crew member and their commander, leading up to the historic encounter with the U.S.S. Housatonic, in Charleston Harbor. As a result of this encounter, countries all over the world cancelled the construction of wooden ships for their navies and moved to submarines and ironclads, a revolution that continues today.
