Synopsis

After the First World War, the Australian government undertook an initiative to aid veterans by granting them parcels of land in the outback. In adherence to this arrangement, the veterans diligently cultivated the land. However, an unforeseen challenge emerged - thousands of Emus wreaked havoc on their crops each year.

The government decides to intervene by deploying the army, with the responsibility falling upon Harry, the Army’s poster boy and the son of a revered but now senile war hero (played by John Cleese). Despite the initial embarrassment about the unconventional nature of the mission, Harry remains resolute in his determination to succeed. Little did he know that the Emus pose a far more formidable adversary than he had anticipated! Together with two army reservists, Harry employs strategic tactics akin to those used in actual warfare. However, lacking insight into the birds' behaviour and mindset, their efforts fall short at each juncture.

As the situation unfolds, a surprising revelation dawns upon Harry. He recognises that he had been deliberately setup for failure and discovers his true allies in an unexpected place. Despite losing his cherished position in the Army—a role he had believed to be his true calling — Harry exhibits unwavering resolve in doing is right, ultimately emerging as the hero and saving the day.
