His wife begins to break down mentally, overwhelmed by a fear she cannot voice and a future she cannot embrace. She does not want children — not because she lacks love, but because her mind is drowning in anxiety, trauma, and a quiet darkness she cannot escape.
He, on the other hand, loves kids deeply. He dreams of a home filled with laughter, tiny footsteps, and family. But his love for her is so strong, so consuming, that he cannot accept the truth staring him in the face: she is mentally unwell and needs help.
Instead of facing reality, he hides behind hope. He convinces himself she is “just stressed,” “just tired,” “just adjusting.” He refuses therapy, refuses intervention, refuses to acknowledge her suffering — because admitting she is ill feels like admitting their marriage is breaking.
